Students hear from more than guest speakers on the content creation, editing, marketing, sales, and digital aspects of the industry. Hands-on projects and dynamic networking events ensure that students gain real-world experience. In this reimagined format, students will attend interactive workshops, strategy sessions, networking events, virtual visits to meet with publishing teams, and lectures taught by more than industry leaders. Students who attended SPI Online found this experience an invaluable way to gain a deeper understanding of publishing and media, and to plan their career pathway ahead. Three weeks of the program are devoted to book publishing, with lectures and sessions on the complete publishing process, from acquisition and editing to marketing and sales.

Please consult the application information for your program or degree of interest to determine the number of recommendations required for your application. Letters should come from individuals who know you and can comment on your academic qualifications in relation to the field you want to study. Choose people who are most familiar with your former or current studies, research interests, or work, and avoid recommendations of a personal nature. If you have been out of school for some time, you can provide a recommendation from an employer or supervisor.
Please note that Music Business only admits freshmen and transfers for the Fall term. Application to the Steinhardt Music Business undergraduate degree includes a required supplemental application package. No performance audition is required.
As students move through their time at Tisch, they will often turn to their parents and guardians for advice and guidance. The Tisch Office of Career Development offers strategies for pursuing and sustaining a lifelong career in the arts that can be challenging, competitive, and most of all, rewarding. Students should be encouraged to begin thinking about their career development early on. Encourage your student to take charge of his or her own career path by connecting with us. We offer a wide variety of events throughout the school year, such as internship fairs, professional skills workshops, and industry-specific info sessions.
